This in vitro test is performed GLP compliant, according to OECD 471 / OPPTS 870.5100 / EC B.13/14
The principle of the bacterial reverse mutation test is that it detects mutations which revert mutations present in the tester strains and restore the functional capability of the bacteria to synthesize an essential amino acid. The revertant bacteria are detected by their ability to grow in the absence of the amino acid required by the parent test strain. In this test, test items (with or without S9 liver microsomal metabolic activation) are applied to the following tester strains:
- S. typhimurium TA1535
- S. typhimurium TA1537
- S. typhimurium TA98
- S. typhimurium TA100
- E. coli WP2 uvrA
